EMT-B, D & I are currently $12.908 per hour |
Essential Duties:
Respond to medical emergency calls and provide medical attention; evaluate patients’ signs and symptoms; extricate and transport patients; inspect, clean and maintain vehicles, equipment and property; inventory and maintain supplies and materials; complete paperwork and forms; follow departmental protocols and governing rules and regulations.
Qualifications:
Requires

High school diploma or equivalent; |
2 |
State certified EMT or Southwestern IL EMS System certified Paramedic (in good standing); |
3 |
Skills and temperament to handle medical emergencies in a competent, calm fashion; |
4 |
A valid drivers license in good standing as required by the City's insurance carrier; |
5 |
Ability to efficiently and courteously interact with people; |
6 |
Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing; |
7 |
Ability to run, walk, stand, sit, climb stairs and climb obstacles; |
8 |
Ability to lift, pick-up and carry objects, equipment or people (100 lbs +); |
9 |
Work in hot, cold, wet and other undesirable environmental conditions; |
10 |
Overtime and rotating shift work; often on short notice; |
11 |
Must be able to achieve a passing score on an EMS basic skills pre-employment examination. |
